Proverbs 1:20 Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
21 She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
It is God’s desire that all have wisdom so it is available to to anyone who will listen. The wisdom of God can be found by anyone who willing to listen. Verse 22 helps us see 3 classes of people , the simple or naïve who are ignorant of the wisdom, the scorners who push it a little further to not accepting the wisdom, and the fools who just totally defy the knowledge of wisdom. Proverbs aims its wisdom primarily at the first group. God is telling the people to learn by His reproof. God is offering to pour out His Spirit. God the Holy Spirit will reveal the meaning of the word to us if we will accept His Spirit into us. God’s wisdom brings to bear against the sinner indictments for sin that demand repentance. To the one who does repent, God promises the spirit or essence of true wisdom linked to divine revelation.
