Proverbs 15:32 He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.
33 The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.
Finally in this chapter we see a person who refuses to be taught is hurting no one but himself. They will make many mistakes and have no facts to work with. The person who will gladly listen to someone who more will know how to take correction when he needs it. As we should already know the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Humility before God pleases Him and lets Him know that we love Him. The faer we have in God helps us to learn what we need to by staying in His word and learning what His will for our life is. Let strive each day to try to grow a little stronger in our walk with God so we will have what we need to defeat Satan.
Proverbs 15:29 The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
30 The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: and a good report maketh the bones fat.
31 The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.
This spirit of God is from from the wicked because they have run from God an not God leaving them. It is said God does not hear the prayers of the sinner but I believe he hears them but does not answer unless it is a prayer of repentance. God does answer the righteous cause It says in James the effectual prayer of a righteous man availeth much. If Jesus is in our heart His light shines in us in the sparkle in our eyes and the smile on our face. When we hear a good report it is like good news that lifts us up and makes our heart leap within us. Makes us just want to swell up with joy. More than once in the book of revelation we hear the phase ” He that hath an ear let him hear” and here in proverbs we have seen those that listen to wisdom gain knowledge and understanding of God. The acquiring of wisdom demands a teachable spirit. May God bless you today with an awesome Monday.
Proverbs 15:26 The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.
27 He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.
28 The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
Here we have again contrasting attitudes in people. We see here that it starts with the thoughts a person has. The sinner has wicked thoughts which evil an an abomination to God. Also we have the greedy person who not only takes from others but will even take from his own household just to satisfy his needs. Then reflecting back to verse 26 out of the heart the mouth speaks and we know wicked people only speak evil.
On the other side of this we see that those with a pure heart speak pleasant things. Also someone who would rather give than receive will prosper because the lord loves a cheerful giver. Lastly we see the righteous listens to their heart before they speak.
We should all be able to see in these scriptures it is a lot easier to and a lot less trouble to let the wisdom of God control our heart which helps us to control our speech
Luke 6:45 “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.”.
Please attend church today, we would love to see at Luverne First Assembly of God at 788 Glenwood Road in Luverne AL today and share the love of God with you.
Proverbs 15:22 Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
23 A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!
24 The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.
25 The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.
We begin hers seeing it best when a major decision is to be made it is best to have the wisdom of more than one person contributing to the best decision possible. Like the saying goes two heads are better than one. The next verse could be tied to this in that the right person gave the right answer at the right time. This continues to show that sometimes we need to make a wise decisions on our own in where we plan to spend eternity. If we make the wise choice we will choose life in heaven instead of sin and death in hell. as this ends we see that the proud think they need nothing from anyone, including help from others. We know that God loves the humble an we must ask for His help before He will give it. God will always step in and help the most desolate, like the widow, and let them know they have a more permanent place than the sinners. These scriptures help us to see not only do we need to rely on other children of God sometimes to make decisions but that we to to always know that God is always looking out for us.
Proverbs 15:18 A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
19 The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.
20 A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
21 Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.
In theses verses we see some more comparisons.
First we have a hothead that is always stirring up trouble. they are ready to start a battle over anything. Then we have the lazy man who could care less of anything ever got done. Next is one who does not want to here anything their mother has to say even though she would gladly help him in any way. Finally we those who just do not care for the wisdom of God and they will never enjoy the blessings of God.
On the other side we have the peacemakers who because of the wisdom God they are slow to anger. Next we have the industrious person who is always doing all they can to get things accomplished. Then a man tha twill eagerly take instructions from his father because he wants his father to be proud of him. Finally as we have seen already a man of understanding is always working to do the right and moral thing. Let us all try to be like the last four examples we see here This is what God expects of us and it is our reasonable service to do this.
Dad and Mom are getting everything set up for this year’s bike blessing. It’s going to be right down the road from our house this time, and I want to go! I didn’t remember what a bike blessing is, so Dad told me that lots of people bring their cars, trucks, bicycles and especially motorcycles. Then Dad and Mom and I, and some of our good friends, will pray over the rider and their vehicle. We’re going to pray that they stay safe on the road and that God touches their lives.
It’s going to be on April 22 at the Shriner’s Building at 10 – where we start Spyder’s toy run. Mom said to make sure I told everybody that we’ll have coffee and yummy donuts; it will be OK if you drop some, because I’ll be sure to pick it up.
Afterwards, the Crenshaw County Animal Society is going to have a poker run. That’s going to be fun too- last year our friend Lily got adopted into her forever home, and our friends Ziggy and Ms Sharon and Mr John P came down and talked to everybody about how great it is to have a dog friend. Ziggy helps make sure Ms Sharon stays healthy, which is so cool! I don’t have an important job like that – I just keep Mom and Dad company while they work, and I make sure nobody comes off the road to get into our yard. (Scout helps, too.)
Come out and see us! I promise you’ll have a good time, and you’ll be helping a good cause at the same time.
Proverbs 15:16 Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.
17 Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.
These two verses show us that they are some things better than having everything we think we need. It first reminds us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and better than having great treasure. Money has been the downfall of many when it comes to a relationship God. We should be content with what we have physically if we have a close relationship with God The next verse goes on to tell us if all we have to eat is herbs instead steak we need to be content and enjoy it in love with one another. This is telling us that pleasant company is far more important at a meal than the food on the table. Happiness is what we are all looking for, not some special food.
Proverbs 15:13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
14 The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.
15 All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
These three verses speak of a condition of the heart. First lets look at the sorrowful part of the heart. It is a broken heart and not only affects the outward look but the inward spirit in a negative way as well. Then the foolish heart believes every foolish thing and feeds on falsehoods. Finally we see those that are afflicted to the point of depression never looking for anything good but only at the dark side. This is a terrible way to live .
If we have a merry heart people see it in our eyes and in our smile and they know we have something special. Because our hearts are right with God we seek to gain more understanding and knowledge. Finally a merry heart sees everything with a positive attitude. Life to a joyous person is always a peaceful lifestyle. The joyous inward condition of a wise mans heart is a perpetual feast of God’s blessings. Real happiness is always determined by the state of the heart.
Proverbs15:11 Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?
12 A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.
We see by this that hell and destruction are fully known of God. God, also, can see into the heart of man and knows what is in each person’s heart.God even knows the desires of each person’s heart. He knows the desires of our heart before we pray. But He wants us to pray. Just as God knows our hearts He knows the scourer dislikes being corrected and that he will not go to a person of God to get correction. We should always know that God always has what is best for us in His plan and we need to stay close enough to Him to know what it is.
Proverbs 15:9 The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
10 Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.
This first verse tells that there are two paths we can walk. The first being one that is a broad road and many are they that go on it and these are an abomination to God. The other a narrow road and few they are that travel it and these are the ones God loves. We have to choose to go on one road or the other. The path of righteousness is the path Christian must take. The next verse tells us that forsaking the way truth righteousness leads only to death. In order to get in right with God sin has to be corrected and repented of in order to gain eternal life. We should never complain when God corrects us but learn form the experience and grow to be more like He desires us to be.
