1 Corinthians 12 : 13 – 18

1 Corinthians 12 : 15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? 18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

This teaching here sounds a little ridiculous, but people sometimes think that their contribution to a body of Christ is not as important as what someone else does. But it can clearly be seen here in 15, 16, and 17 that all parts of the body have a specific job to do just as God has given each of His followers a specific job to do. Each follower is unique in the qualities and gifts that God has given them and if they do not do them to best of their abilities then the body of Christ will not function properly. In verse 18 Paul tells us that God has given each the gifts they need to help the church function in full harmony and unity. God puts everyone where they will do the most good no matter how big or how small the task is they are all important in the eyes of God.
