1 Corinthians 7:32-33

Corinthians 7:32 But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:33 But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.

Paul again, is showing the difference in working for the Lord as a single person, and working for the Lord as a married person. The single person can devote all his time to the Lord without distractions and is free from concern about the earthly needs of a spouse and therefore potentially better able to set himself apart exclusively for the Lord’s work. We try to think that we will devote the proper attention to the Lord being married but sometimes we will feel the need to put the household things first, and we shouldn’t. If both are one in a marriage like they should be they stand a better chance of pleasing God most of the time with the work they do for Him. Even a single person is not totally safe from not being tempted to put things before God in the world we live in today.
