1 Corinthians 7:6 But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment.
7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.
Paul is speaking here to those that are going into the ministry. He realizes that he is freer to go and minister because he has no family ties. He chose to be single and Jesus made reference to being single in the book of Matthew 19:12, “For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.” Then Paul says that he would that all men be like but that each man has a different gift from God. Which ever way a person chooses to go whether it be a single life or marriage they are gifts from God. All believers are not not expected to be single, nor all who were that way to stay single, nor all who were married to act like they are single and try to be celibate.
