Proverbs 30:7-9

Proverbs 30:7 Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die:
8 Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:
9 Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.

These verses are a prayer asking for two things. The first being vanity and lies coupled together as one,and he asked that he not be a vain person or someone who lies. The other thing was not to be overcome by wealth, as you might think you no longer need God, or poverty as, it may cause you to become a thief or a sluggard. Verse 9 reveals to us why this prayer was prayed, because he did not want to get to place where he feels he no longer needs God and says who is the Lord. Also it sates again that if he is poor he could be tempted to sin and take the Lords name in vain. This should certainly be our prayer, as well. Most sin comes because of vanity and lies and because of greed. God help us to walk in your ways and not our own.
