2 John 1:10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
John in these verses tells us that we should not entertain false teachers in our homes but that does not mean we do welcome non Christians. We ask them to leave when they start trying to change our way of believing. We have to be sure we are not aiding or abetting these false teachers. He goes on to say if we wish them God speed we are agreeing with what they are teaching so we have to be careful when we send them away that we do not say the wrong thing. We should dismiss them with Christian compassion, but get rid of them.Hospitality to such leaders aids the spread of their heresy and inevitably leaves the impression of sanctioning the teachings of these antichrists Supreme loyalty to God and His Word alone must characterize the actions of every true believer.
2 John 1:8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
In these verses John helps to remind us to hold on to the things we learned through our life about the word of God and how to live the life of a Christian. We are not saved by our works but by faith and the things we do for Christ, because we love Him, is what earns us our rewards. It is God’s desire for us to receive our full reward. It goes on tell us if fall away from the doctrine of Christ and abide not in the ways we have been taught God is not with us. But if we stay true to all we learned about the doctrines of Christ we will have God and Jesus walking with everyday. Please attend a Bible teaching church today that teaches the true Word of God so you will not be led astray.
2 John !:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
This verse has a message in it that as a Christian we need to pay close attention to. John here lets us know that there are people out there that do not believe that Jesus ever walked on this earth. Satan is at the front of this attack and since he comes as an angel of light believers must be on guard against error by having an intimate acquaintance with the truth. A biblical Christology maintains that Jesus Christ’s nature was both fully God and fully man with all the implications for the fulfillment of redemptive purposes. All false religions, cults and heresies deny the true nature of Jesus Christ. These deceivers are probably leaders with a false doctrine who are trying to lead others astray. A “deceiver” would be pretending to be a Christian, when in reality, he is opposed to God.
Anyone who does not believe Jesus to be Messiah, and in fact, believes that Jesus was not God manifest in the flesh, is of the spirit of the Antichrist. They are opposed to the truth of Christ. With all that Satan can throw at us we need to be prepared know the truth and able to spot deceivers before they have a chance to change our beliefs.
2 John 1:5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
John starts in theses verses to remind us of the commandment to love one one anther. In first John , he talked a lot about love and how important it is not only to love one another but ot love God first. If we can not love one anther we cannot love God. He also reminds us to walk daily in these commandments that we have heard from the beginning. I believe John emphasis on love is very important or he would not continue to bring it up. If we strive to walk in this commandment every day we will be less likely to not do the will of God that He has in store for us each day..
2 John 1;3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
4 I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.
John begins in these scripture to characterize three other attributes of Christians which is grace , mercy, and peace that go along with truth and love. John’s succession from grace to mercy and then peace marks the order from the first motion of God to the final satisfaction of man. The confines of these threefold blessings are within the sphere of truth and love. The word “walking” has reference to continual walking in the truth making obedience to the truth a habit in One’s life. We are all commanded of God to live upright lives. In fact, if we love Him, we will keep His commandments.
2 John 1:1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
2 For the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.
John begins here talking about himself as the elder. He is address a person or group of people who he has known that are believers in the Lord. It appears that John knows these people personally. He even speaks of loving them. This seems to be people who had Christian influence, because it speaks of others loving them, who loved the Lord. The truth spoken of here is a necessary condition of unity and, as a result, the basis of hospitality. We know that “truth” in the verse above, is speaking of Jesus who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Jesus does dwell within the believer, and He will never leave us, or forsake us. He is with us even unto the end.
1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
John reminds us again that we know the Jesus is the Son of God and He has given us what we need to know that this true. If we have put our faith in Him we know to that it is true that He is in us and we in Him. We know all of this to be true because of the Word of God and that we a re promised eternal life through the sacrifice that Jesus gave for us. John ens this chapter to remind us we need to keep our selves away from the false teachers that are in the world today. The false teachers and idols that are out there today mean nothing to the children of God. Always strive end day to make sure you are following the the true Word of God.
1 John 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
John in these verses tells us if we are born of God we should be free of sin. We have to make a conscience effort to not give in to sin even after we are saved. Satan does not worry about those that are lost, he already has them, but he has to focus his attention on the believer to try to turn them. If we are true children of God we should be increasing our knowledge everyday of Him so we can defeat Satan every day. God’s only begotten Son could not be touched by Satan because He was the Son of God. Verse 19 lets us know only two types of people exist in the world according to John: children of God and children of Satan. One belongs either to God or to the evil world system that is Satan’s domain. Because the whole world belongs to Satan, Christians should avoid its contamination. If you do not know Christ as your your Savior today I ask you to find a pastor or friend who is saved to tell you how to become a child of God.
16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
We see here that we are to pray for those that lost to sin and have a chance to be saved. God will listen to the prayers of those who bring the names of lost to Him and draw them to
Him. But for those who have committed the unpardonable sin God will not save them. When someone totally turns their back on God and blasphemes the Holy Spirit there is no hope for them. We see in the following Scripture in Jesus’ own words that sins will be forgiven. The only one that will not, is the sin against the Holy Ghost, which I believe is dying not believing in Jesus Christ. In Matthew 12:31 “Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy [against] the [Holy] Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.” Please attend church today and if you lost and alone I believe someone is praying for you so go to church today so the spirit can draw you into the kingdom of God.
1 John :14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
With absolute confidence we can know that God answers prayer. A strategic key to answered prayer is to pray in accord with what He would want, not what we would desire or insist that He do. Answered prayer also depends on obedience to God’s commandments and avoidance of sin. God always hears the prayers of His children but not always in the manner they were presented. When we have confidence in Him, it means that we know He will do what He has promised. It is your faith that is the key to getting prayers answered and it is important to believe that you receive the thing you are praying for. Also to know means that we have faith in it happening. When Jesus healed the sick, He said; your faith has made you whole.
