Proverbs 20:14-15

Proverbs 20:14 It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.
15 There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

In this first verse we find someone, who I am sure we have all dealt with, that is wanting to acquire something of value but does not agree with the price that is being ask for it. He buys it for less then he when he is off on his own he brags about how expensive the item is but he did not pay a lot for it. This simply another way of telling a lie and God is not pleased with that..We can see in this last verse that gold and silver may be valuable but you have to have money to buy them. Wealth is a blessing when honestly gained but it is better to obtain the wisdom of God than to have all the money in the world. If you look around today you will see that a person who can talk with you about the true wisdom of God is rare which makes the word of God very valuable. Please try to spend time with God everyday whether in His word, praising Him, or spending one on one time in prayer with Him.

Proverbs 20 : 12-13

Proverbs 20:12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.
13 Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

From this first verse we should know that God made our eyes and ears because He created us all. I believe we should be using our ears to here what God is trying to tell us as well as being a listening ear to those that need someone. Our eyes to see those those things that others don’t that can help people in some way. It is God that opens our understanding to the things we see and hear so we can be obedient in doing what He has for us .The next verse tells us again that if we are lazy we will not ever have anything, so we are to open our eyes and get busy so that we have what we need as well as being able to help others. We always need to be about our Fathers business and be open to to everything He has to to show us as well as tell us through His word.

Proverbs 20 :10-11

Proverbs 20:10 Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.
11 Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

This scripture lets us see that God hates dishonesty. This sin harms all the people affected by the dishonesty of one person. It is always better to honest in everything we do even though sometimes it could cause ill feelings with someone. Even the little white lie is an abomination to God. We see even children form what kind of person they are going to be at an early age.we hope we bring the mup in right way to obey not only us but ways of the truth of God’s word. We will know how they are by the way act and if by chance one is turning into a bad child we know Proverbs tells us not to spare the rod for correction., These scriptures tell us to always be honest in what we do and to raise our children in the same way.

Proverbs 20:7-9

Proverbs 20:7 The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.
8 A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.
9 Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

Now we see a righteous man that lives his life everyday walking in paths God has led him in and because this man serves God everyday his children are blessed even after he is gone. Next we see a king who is ruling by the laws of God and this strikes terror in eyes of evil men and they realize the punishment they will receive for their deeds. The King of Kings, Jesus Christ, sees directly those who would stand before Him and lie. There is nothing concealed that He does not know. Last we should already know that no one can say they have made their heart clean or that they are clean of sin. The only way this can happen is to be washed in the blood of Jesus. After that a person can say that his heart is clean and that he is purified. Those whose sin has been forgiven are pure before God. We se in these verse a man who is righteous and passes it to his family, a king who works by God’s law and the respect him, and last the only way to find salvation is through Christ.

Proverbs 20:4-6

Proverbs 20: 4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.
5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.
6 Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?

Again we see a verse talking about lazy people, they will always say it is to cold or to hot to work so they will not only cause themselves not to have food to eat but their family also. they will beg for anything but will receive nothing. The next verse tells us that we need to always take time to study the word of God and hide it in hearts so we will always have it with us. If for some reason we no longer had a Bible we would have it in our hearts and the Holy Spirit would help us draw it out when we need it. This last verse tells us to beware of those who proclaim their own greatness because when it comes down to showing how much faith they really have they come up lacking. True faith i believing in something we cannot see with our physical eye. These tree verse tell us not to be lazy, study God’s word, and do not brag about how much you know.

Proverbs 20: 1-3

Proverbs 20.:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
2 The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: whoso provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul.
3 It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.

The Bible does not teach that we should not drink but it does worn against over indulging in the consumption of strong drink. We know that to get drunk it causes all kinds problems but the greatest problem it cause s is sin. It is only a fool who thinks alcohol will solve his problems and the only way to overcome this is to surrender to Jesus. The next verse reminds us that we should fear the lord and not man. It is true if you provoke a leader you could lose your life but if you provoke God you will lose your soul. Lastly people today like to think they need to avenge a wrong done to them but God say to love your and pray for them even to bless them that curse you. A fool on he other hand just likes to stir the pot one more time to see what kind of strife he can cause Please attend church today where you can here he true word of God and be blessed and learn what He has for you today . Also this afternoon at Turner Park in Luverne will be a unified church service for all who like to attend so come to the ” Glory Roar” at 3:00 pm today.

Proverbs 19: 28-29

Proverbs 19:28 An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.
29 Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.

These last two verses to me give us a good example of how so much in this world today looks at things.First you have the ungodly that laugh in the face of judgement and is not interest in true judgement. Then you have those that once they start going down the wrong path they speed up to just far they can go. They just continue to get worse and worse. Neither of these realize that one day they will have to face the judgement of God. Verse 29 tells just what will happen for those who scorn judgement. They will be severely punished and this kind of reminds us of the rod that is not to be spared. The only way either of these will escape the wrath of God is to repent of their sins and except Jesus Christ as their savior.

Proverbs 19 : 26-27

Proverbs 19:26 He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.
27 Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.

Hers we see a son who has no respect for his father or mother. First he refuses to listen to the knowledge and instructions his father gives him to help grow in the direction. This son waste anything that he is given to him by his parents whether it be money or inheritance and righteous instructions on how to live. Also the love of a mother for her children runs deep and for this son to push her out of his life is a disgrace and should bring a strong reproach on him .Verse 27 say to cease from the kind of behavior that is in verse 26. It says you are taking instructions from the wrong people and should be listening to those who give you Godly instructions. I know we probably all know some situation like this so let us not forget to continue to pray for these that need to here the right way to righteousness.

Proverbs 19: 24-25

Proverbs 19:24 A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
25 Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.

We have seen the slothful person before and know that he si so lazy he will not even fix food for himself. He depends on everybody else to provide for him. Next we see the scorner who is beyond receiving and help from anyone even if it is just to listen to reason. Smiting it seems is a punishment for acts already done and not to teach. The only one that will learn from this is the simple onlooker. The reproof her is probably verbal and this is all it takes for an understanding person to learn and grow from the reproof. Three classes of people are noted: 1) Scorners are rebuked for learning nothing; 2) Naïve people are warned by observing the rebuke of the scorner; 3) the understanding deepen their wisdom from any reproof.

Proverbs 19:23

Proverbs 19:23 The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

We have leaned already from the book of proverbs that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. If we believe there is a Lord then we will fear Him. even for us to be saved we must first believe there is a Lord. The fear that is wise is a fear that we might not make the resurrection; that we might not rise to new life in Him. If we are assured in our heart that we will live again with the Lord, we should be completely satisfied. As Paul said, we should be satisfied in whatever situation we find ourselves in on this earth, knowing there is a wonderful eternity with the Lord awaiting us. If we keep our minds on this, we will not even be tempted with evil. We will have overcome evil with good.
