Spyder’s Toy Run 2017

We’re making plans starting now for Spyder’s 27th Annual Toy Run.  The date’s been set- December 2, 2017 (always the first Saturday in December.)  Everyone should plan on meeting at the Shriner’s building no later than 10:30. KSU is 10:45, after a safety talk by Luverne Police Department.

We ask that each bike bring at least one new, unwrapped toy valued at $10 or more. These toys go to the kids in the county who wouldn’t otherwise have a Christmas.  If you’d rather donate money, please put that in a sealed envelope and mark it “Spyder’s Toy Run”. We’ll drop the toys and donations off at the end of the parade route; there will be helpers there to take them.  Make sure you have your toys on your bikes – the folks along the parade route love to see them!

We’ll ride up 331 into Luverne and fall in behind the end of the parade.  For those coming for the first time,  some riders bring candy to throw to the kids along the parade route.

Our goal is to build this into the largest toy run in the southeast, so we’re going to give a prize to the person who comes from farthest away, and to the group with the most members present from outside the county.

Alabama does have a helmet law, but they usually allow us to ride in the parade with no helmets- once you start back to the shrine building, you will be expected to wear your helmet.

After the toy run, our friends, the Crenshaw County Riders, would like to invite you to come back for the Bikers Appreciation Lunch. It’s always a great spread; lunch if free but they always appreciate donations – they work all year to buy larger toys for these same kids at Christmas, and this is one of their big fundraisers. They’ll also have door prizes so make your plans to attend.

Proverbs 20:23-25

Proverbs 20:23 Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.
24 Man’s goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?
25 It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make enquiry.

This scripture begins with a subject we have already seen of how God hates dishonest people who use trickery of any kind to deceive people. I believe when things are repeated in the word of God then He really means for us to pay attention to what He says. The next verse shows us two kinds of men. The first is one who walks with God and follows His leading. If we are children of God then it does not matter what happens to us God will still direct our path. the next is a worldly man who has no direction that comes from God and because of this is constantly trying new and different things to try to figure out his life. He will continue to stumble around until he finds Jesus.Since a man cannot comprehend the unfolding purposes of God’s providence in his life, he has to walk in faith. This last verse simply tells us not to promise God something if we do plan to go through with it. In Acts 5 we see a good example of this with Ananias and Sapphira. When we promise something to the Lord, it is very important to keep the promise.

Proverbs 20:20-22

Proverbs 20:20 Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.
21 An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.
22 Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

As we begin here we know scripture says honor thy father that thy days may be long on this earth. Now we see the opposite, if a child cures their father or mother they will run the risk of suffering a spiritual death. To curse either of your parents is to curse yourself. Next for those who think that they need their inheritance quickly usually wide up wasting it on sinful pleasures. This is why we say easy come easy go. God knows just how much He can trust you with. Be content with what you have. This last verse reminds us that “vengeance is mine saith the lord” . We would always like to go and get even with someone who has done us wrong but God tells us to do good to those who persecute us . God already knows and sees our problems and will deal with the min His time for us. These three verse tell us that we should always honor our parents, use Godly wisdom when He blesses us financially, and let God fight our battles for us.

Proverbs 20:18-19

Proverbs 20:18 Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.
19 He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

These two verses give us some good council. First it reminds us to listen to good council before making decisions.Although most wars are begun because someone wants to show how powerful they are, wars should should not start without good council. The greatest war we fight is the one with the devil and unless we are well prepared from good council and the word of God we are not ready to fight that war. Then we have the person that likes to run around and talk about people and if they do this with you then you should know they will talk about you to others. We need to stay clear of these people as they are only out to flatter themselves Theses ow verses tell us we need to listen to wise counsel and stay away from people who like to spread rumors. Please attend a church of your choice today and I pray that it will be one that teaches the true word of God and you get the blessing you need today.

Proverbs 20 :16-17

Proverbs 20:16 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
17 Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.

We begin here seeing again that we should be careful about taking on the burden of someone else debt. Back in biblical times it was customary to offer a garment to cove a debt. Today if we stand for someone else debt it usually costs a lot more and so it is not a good practice. The second part of this verse making sure you have what is needed to take care of a stranger, this refers to a woman but it could be for anyone. Next verse tells us the bread of deceit, on how good it taste when we partake of it, but the effects of it afterwards leaves us feeling the results of sin. Sin seems to be pleasure, but the end is sorrow and regret. The last part of this verse sounds a little like what happens in hell where there is gnashing of teeth. Let us strive each day to be aware of the ways God wants us to deal with people and know enough of His word that we not easily deceived.

PAW Poker Run: a Note from Hope

I didn’t get to write anything last week- Mom and Dad were busy  helping get ready for the poker run, and our bike blessing.

Ms Kimmie & Mr Chris, and Ms Leah & Mr Charlie and Jordan (my BFF),  and Ms Jamalyn & Mr Justin and Georgia and Wyatt, and Ms Angela and Ms Sherry  all got together with Dad and Mom and they put together a poker run to raise money for the foster pups and kittens.

And how cool is this? Ziggy and Sharon and John P brought a bunch of their friends down again, and some nice folks from Prattville came down, and of course riders from Crenshaw County came to help out. Dad said there were about 45 or 50 bikes in all- they rode all over the county and then came back for lunch… they had a good time! And then all these nice folks donated door prizes, so they gave them away. I don’t know what poker is, but it must be fun.

Besides all the bikers who came, lots of people around the county helped out- they had a whole wall full of names of people and businesses who helped. I couldn’t read them all.

You know, everybody isn’t as lucky as Scout and me – we have a nice big bed to sleep in, and Dad and Mom make sure we have plenty to eat, including my favorite- pizza ‘bones’…. we get to watch TV and go for rides, and play with the kittens when we want.

And I bet you didn’t know this- but all those cats and kittens outside? They aren’t even ours! I didn’t know that until Mom told me… I just thought she and Dad liked cats a lot. But they’re foster cats from the Animal Society. We just get to love them and take care of them until someone adopts them.  But Dad and Mom treat them like they’re ours. Dad makes sure they have some extra canned food every morning when he goes out to work.

So if you’re a lucky pup like Scout and me, why don’t you think about donating to the Crenshaw County Animal Society? The foster pups and cats there would be very grateful. And while you’re at it, say a prayer that they find their very own person to love.

Prov. 12:10  A righteous man regards the life of his animal, But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

Proverbs 20:14-15

Proverbs 20:14 It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.
15 There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

In this first verse we find someone, who I am sure we have all dealt with, that is wanting to acquire something of value but does not agree with the price that is being ask for it. He buys it for less then he when he is off on his own he brags about how expensive the item is but he did not pay a lot for it. This simply another way of telling a lie and God is not pleased with that..We can see in this last verse that gold and silver may be valuable but you have to have money to buy them. Wealth is a blessing when honestly gained but it is better to obtain the wisdom of God than to have all the money in the world. If you look around today you will see that a person who can talk with you about the true wisdom of God is rare which makes the word of God very valuable. Please try to spend time with God everyday whether in His word, praising Him, or spending one on one time in prayer with Him.

Proverbs 20 : 12-13

Proverbs 20:12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.
13 Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

From this first verse we should know that God made our eyes and ears because He created us all. I believe we should be using our ears to here what God is trying to tell us as well as being a listening ear to those that need someone. Our eyes to see those those things that others don’t that can help people in some way. It is God that opens our understanding to the things we see and hear so we can be obedient in doing what He has for us .The next verse tells us again that if we are lazy we will not ever have anything, so we are to open our eyes and get busy so that we have what we need as well as being able to help others. We always need to be about our Fathers business and be open to to everything He has to to show us as well as tell us through His word.

Proverbs 20 :10-11

Proverbs 20:10 Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.
11 Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

This scripture lets us see that God hates dishonesty. This sin harms all the people affected by the dishonesty of one person. It is always better to honest in everything we do even though sometimes it could cause ill feelings with someone. Even the little white lie is an abomination to God. We see even children form what kind of person they are going to be at an early age.we hope we bring the mup in right way to obey not only us but ways of the truth of God’s word. We will know how they are by the way act and if by chance one is turning into a bad child we know Proverbs tells us not to spare the rod for correction., These scriptures tell us to always be honest in what we do and to raise our children in the same way.

Proverbs 20:7-9

Proverbs 20:7 The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.
8 A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.
9 Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

Now we see a righteous man that lives his life everyday walking in paths God has led him in and because this man serves God everyday his children are blessed even after he is gone. Next we see a king who is ruling by the laws of God and this strikes terror in eyes of evil men and they realize the punishment they will receive for their deeds. The King of Kings, Jesus Christ, sees directly those who would stand before Him and lie. There is nothing concealed that He does not know. Last we should already know that no one can say they have made their heart clean or that they are clean of sin. The only way this can happen is to be washed in the blood of Jesus. After that a person can say that his heart is clean and that he is purified. Those whose sin has been forgiven are pure before God. We se in these verse a man who is righteous and passes it to his family, a king who works by God’s law and the respect him, and last the only way to find salvation is through Christ.
