Proverbs 24:13-14

Proverbs 24:13 My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:
14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

In these verses we see that God promised the children of Israel A land of milk and honey. Honey is a food that is good for you, it is even said to help with certain aliments. It is also something that is sweet to the taste. Verse 14 goes on to say that wisdom is kind of like honey, it is something that is good for you. When you consume wisdom and gain the knowledge you can from it then you will be rewarded for sharing it with those that are looking for the answers they need. By applying our knowledge and wisdom for the work of God we will gin the the promises God and our expectation will be what we desire and not cut off.

Proverbs 24:10-12

Proverbs 24:10 If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
11 If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;
12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?

It is easy to say we are strong in our faith when things are going good but if we were faced with a situation like Peter was when Christ was being tried, what would we do? We need to be Stephen and stand strong in faith against all test.Next we see we need to use our strength to deliver those that are in danger for standing for what is right. Lastly because of the wisdom and knowledge we have we cannot say we do see when some one is in trouble and needs our help. God knows the intents of our hearts and if we fail to help someone when we know we should God will not hold us blameless. You will receive the same type of treatment from God that you have given your fellowman. Let us always be ready to help those that we see in need.

Proverbs 24:7-9

Proverbs 24:7 Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.
8 He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.
9 The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.

Wisdom is a gift from God but a fool is too busy to even listen to someone who is trying to help him gain some wisdom. Because he could care less for wisdom he is not allowed to sit at the gate where people enter the city. A person who likes to do evil is always planning ways to beat people out of things instead of working for what he has. He is a genius at plotting schemes to swindle people of their goods. The word of God says if we desire to sin in our heart we have sinned already. The heart will be judged more than the actions we commit. The scourer or rejecters of Christian principals and that turn their backs on God are a terrible reproach and abomination to God and the righteous. We see in these verses that there are some who will never listen to anyone that tries to get them to change their ways but it is still our job to try to witness to as many as we can.

Proverbs 24:3-6

Proverbs 24:3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
5 A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.

A true family is built on faith in God and any family who has God at the center is not easily shaken. To maintain a Godly household you have to wisdom, knowledge, and mutual understanding. Again by centering our focus on God a family is rich in a lot more things than money, they are abundantly blessed with spirit blessings. You do not have to have gold and silver to the richest people in the world. With the wisdom we gain from God we are stronger as we apply the knowledge we gain. Even when we are in battles because of our wisdom in God we can win every one of them be be in the safety of Gods hands. We need to try to make sure we apply God to everything we do because with His wisdom and help all things are possible.

Proverbs 24:1-2

Proverbs 24:1 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
2 For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.

As we start this chapter we see right off that we need to steer clear of evil people. Because it may look like they have a lot do not desire to be with them or wish you had what they have. Their main purpose is to destroy people who get in their way and they will not hesitate to lie to get what they want. They will lead you down a path that will very hard to come back from. So as these verse started off do not have anything to do with these people, they have made their decision in life who they are going to follow.

Proverbs 23:31-35

Proverbs 23:31 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.32 At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.33 Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.34 Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.35 They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

These five verses tell the story of what alcohol can do to a person. First we see that the drink that is being consumed here is a strong drink which when consumed to excess can cause a lot of things to happen. First it can cause a hangover and make you wonder what you did. It distorts reality when too much is consumed and makes you do things you would not normally do. It makes you feel as if be being tossed about on a ship causing you to be sick and confused. When the drunkard awakes because of his lack of sense his first thought is to repeat what he just did. This is the beginning of alcoholism. We can learn from this that even though we may think we can handle taking a drink we need to realize this another way for Satan to ease into our lives. The word tells us to abstain from all appearances of evil. Please attend church today and if you have any kind of addiction leave it at the alter with God.

Proverbs 23:29-30

Proverbs 23:29 Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?
30 They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.

Verse 29 ask several questions about woes, sorrows, contentions, babbling s, wounds and redness of eyes. It is simply asking what causes all theses feelings. Verse 30 somewhat answers this question. It says they that drink too much wine, and we know they are drinking too much because it says they tarry a long time at the place they consume it. Not only that but they even try several different kinds. In the next 5 verses we will see several things that living a lifestyle like this can destroy a person.

My Little Sister! A Note from Hope

Earlier this week, our friend Ms Liz came over;  she brought her new baby,  a tiny little puppy whose name is Trixie.  Mom let me come outside to meet her, and we played in the yard a little bit. She would run at me, and then when I ran back towards her, she would hide behind someone’s feet. After a few minutes, Mom picked her up and started talking to her- then she told me that Trixie is my little sister! I couldn’t believe it.

She said that Trixie and I have the same mama (not Mom), so she really is my little sister.

Mom wouldn’t let Scout come out and meet her this time- Scout might accidentally knock her over and we didn’t want her to get hurt.

I’m so glad to find out about my little sister; even though we won’t live together, it’s nice to know that I have family in other places.

Mom says sometimes people get adopted too, just like me- ’cause you know Mom isn’t my ‘real’ Mom, right? Sometimes people aren’t able to live with their ‘beginning’ family, so someone else who loves them a lot adopts them and they become part of that family. I think that’s pretty cool.

If I could have a wish, it would be that every dog and cat, and every person, could have a happy family who loves them forever. I’m gonna put that in my prayers tonight.

Proverbs 23:26-28

Proverbs 23:26 My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.
27 For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit.
28 She also lieth in wait as for a prey, and increaseth the transgressors among men.

These verses help us to see that the wisdom and knowledge that is gained by our children is important as they go out into the world. The lures of an immoral woman on a man is something that if he gives in to it he will fall into a pit that will seem to deep to climb out of and it closing in on him. She lieth in wait for anyone who will give in and you never know what the consequences of this sin could be. Don’t let the desires of the flesh; draw you out of fellowship with God.

Proverbs 23:24-25

Proverbs 23:24 The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.
25 Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.

As we learned earlier in Proverbs the way to raise a righteous child is with proper discipline from both parents. This should include corporal punishment balanced with kindness and love. If this is administered in the proper way it should produce a godly virtue in our children which will bring parental joy. Parents who are successful in seeing their children live a righteous life style, as they grow in wisdom and knowledge, will be more joy for them than the child. Again we should strive to help our children, no matter age, to gain all the wisdom knowledge of God that they can.
