Proverbs 27:22

Proverbs 27:22 Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.

In this verse we see something that so many people try to do and that is to pound the gospel into people Mos of the time if we push people to the limit they will turn from the gospel rather than turn to it. We need to just share the love of God when witnessing to people and not push them to do anything . All we need to do is plant the seed and let God do the rest. We may need to fertilize a little every now and then but we do not need to over do it..When you live a Godly life in front of people it can cause them to desire what you have and thus gives you a chance to plant the seed.

Proverbs 27:20-21

Proverbs 27:20 Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.
21 As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise.

These verses start off by telling us that hell is never full,we know that it is enlarging itself every day. This first verse goes on to tell us why. Man first sin by looking at the forbidden tree in the Garden of Eden. to this day the eyes probably cause more people to fall grace than anything else. Jesus even said to look upon a woman and lust after he in your heart is same same as committing adultery with her in your heart.. Mans desire are never filled up thus causing hell to increase every day. The one way to stop this from happening is in the next verse. As fire purges the trash out silver and gold so does God purge sin from our lives with the fire of His spirit. Even under great pressure we are to praise God. Let us gain from this that we need God to test us and purge sin from our lives daily to fill those mansions in Heaven instead of enlarging hell.

Proverbs 27:17-19

Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
18 Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.
19 As in water face answereth to face, so the heart of man to man.

In these verses we learn first that with metal you cannot us aluminum to sharpen iron you have to iron on iron. Likewise we would not want to be constantly hanging around with trouble makers but with people who share our own moral character if we want to grow. Next we see if we tend the fig tree as we should we will get a good crop from it, the same is true when if we do what we are ask by our boss we will be rewarded.Last we see if we look in clear pool of water we will see our reflection just as if we were looking in a mirror. Then we see if our heart is right we will be able to see when we are in the presence of someone with a like belief in their heart. From these verses we can see we need to be ready to help others grow and in our jobs do the best we can and always try to keep our hearts in tune with God So people can see Him in us.

Proverbs 27:15-16

Proverbs 27:15 A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.
16 Whosoever hideth her hideth the wind, and the ointment of his right hand, which bewrayeth itself.

These verses deal with a woman that is hard to deal with. But in today’s society I think the same could of almost anyone. Just like the continual dripping of water that gets on your nerves we know people because of the way they act they get on that same nerve. The storm and the wind are hard to hide just like the smell of the aromatic oil that is used on your hands is hard to hide. The oil betrayed itself. In both of these verse we see something that is attempted to be that is impossible to do. These people need our prayers and guidance to help them grow to be a person people like to be around.

Proverbs 27:13-14

Proverbs 2713 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
14 He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.

This first verse is something we have already covered to some degree but things that are mention more than once must mean it is important. It reminds us that we should not sign on a note wit someone but this time it tells us if we do make sure we get enough collateral to cover it. With the strange woman it warns if will be in worse shape than we started if we put security for a stranger. Next we need to be careful of those that praise us with a loud voice and goes out of their way to flatter us because they usually want something in return and this could turn out to be a curse on him. Let us learn from these verses again not to sign with someone on a note and be careful of those that flatter you with loud voices.

Proverbs 27:11-12

Proverbs 27:11 My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.
12 A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.

Here we can learn that as parents we are responsible for how our children turnout to some degree. We hope we do the best we can so when we are confronted about our children we are proud to defend them. Parents are usually blamed for the actions of their children whether good or bad. Since we do teach our kids we should be responsible for some of the blame and praise. Also if we are the type of person we need to be we will foresee evil coming and know how to handle it. For those that are young have have not been taught properly will fail to see danger or evil coming and wind up suffering the consequences. They take no thought for the directions they are going in and therefore will, as we say it, step in all the holes. Lets always try to teach our children ,even after they are grown, do to the right things but also for us as we grow to let God lead us so we can see what is coming our way.

Proverbs 27:9-10

Proverbs 27:9 Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man’s friend by hearty counsel.
10 Thine own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother’s house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.

These two verse center on a very important topic and that is about friendship. It begins by telling us hat just as a sweet perfume is good to smell so is the trust we can put in a true friend. It is good to have a friend to confide in and know you can trust them to keep the conversation confidential. Next we see we should not forsake the friendship of family even though sometimes it is better to have a friend out side the family. Sometimes family may not be close enough to help so you need a close friend. Even sometimes family friendships may not be as reliable. Let us strive to have good friendships with family and people we can put our trust in and to also make ourselves available to be that trusted friend for someone. Pleas attend church today and let God fill your heart and mind with what he has for you today.

Carl: A Note from Hope

A few weeks ago I told you about Scout’s brother Carl – he got hit by a car and had to go stay at Dr. Josh’s office for a while til he got better. Well, he’s been back home for a few weeks and he’s doing great!

Jenn and Daniel had to go out of town for a wedding, so Carl got to come stay with us – everybody else stayed home but they didn’t want him to hurt his leg again. So Dad and Mom said he could come.

He’s got this weird thing on his leg with metal sticks going into his leg- but it doesn’t seem to bother him. Mom says it’s to help his leg finish healing. But the weirdest thing is this crazy white thing on his head- I don’t like it because it makes me think he’s going to stick it on my head. But Scout doesn’t mind- in fact, she keeps sticking her head in there and kissing Carl.

Dad called it the Cone of Shame- I don’t know why but it looks pretty bad to me.

I sure am glad Carl is going to be OK.  And I’m also glad that Daniel and Jennifer didn’t give up on him when he was hurt.

Proverbs 27:7-8

Proverbs 27:7 The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
8 As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.

We see in verse 7 that when someone has had everything to eat and is in need of nothing then anything else is tasteless to them no matter how good it is. This even applies to other when people have more than they need it is nothing to them but would mean a lot to someone who has nothing. The hard working person who hungers finds every bitter thing sweet. Next we see it is wise not to wander to far what we know is right. When we stay close to things we are familiar with then we know there is no uncertainty. If we wander to far from what we know is right it can lead us down a path we do not need to go. We can learn from these verse to be happy with what we have and not to go wandering off somewhere we should not.

Proverbs 27:6

Proverbs 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

This verse says a lot of how we react to the constructive criticism we talked about earlier. If a friend wounds us it is usually because they are trying to help us. This may hurt for a while but but when it is done in love it should be welcomed. Then on the other hand an enemy flatters you with his lips to try to persuade you to do something that will benefit him. He believes that by flattering you, you will give him whatever he wants. We should pray that God gives us the wisdom and knowledge of who to listen to and who to take instruction from. We should also be able to accept the fact we do not always make the right choices.
