The Gatherers

From a Kingdom’s perspective, we are to be on God’s side.  That is because a kingdom is not supposed to be divided or work against itself.  Jesus said, “He that is not with Me is against Me; and he that gathereth not with Me scattereth abroad” (Matt. 12:30).  So, the question is: are you a gatherer or a scatterer?  Do you gather God’s people, or scatter them?  Do you gather in the harvest, or frustrate the gathering?  Once, the disciple John came to Jesus and told Him that he saw a man that was not a part of their group, using Jesus’s name to cast out devils and he forbad him.  Jesus responded that John should not forbid those doing the work of God.  His reasoning was that no one who does a miracle in Jesus’s name, could speak evil of Jesus.  Similarly, anyone who is not against Jesus is for Him (Mark 9:38-40, Luke 9:49,50).  The implication is, not to be against those doing the work of God; even if they are not in a group that we approve of.  When we promote unity of the faith, we gather.  Otherwise, we tend to scatter.  Jesus said that His works testify that He is of God (St. John 5:36, St. John 10:25, 38).  So, as a rule, be supportive of the works of God.  Those are ministries where souls are being saved, the sick are healed, devils are cast out, and the poor and hungry have their needs met.  If there is any doubt, tread carefully.  It would be better to say nothing at all, than to be guilty of resisting the works of God.  There is enough harvest to keep us busy gathering.  Let God judge the scatterers.
