While cleaning off some bookshelves, I came across one of my son’s books: an Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader.

I flipped the book open to a page that contained several quotes from Frederick Douglass.  In light of everything going on in America now, I thought this quote was particularly fitting:

“Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have the exact measure of the injustice and wrong which will be imposed on them.”

How much of what is going on in this country now,  can be traced back to someone somewhere saying, ‘Well, my one little voice won’t make a difference. “  “I’m not getting involved – I don’t want to get in trouble.”  “It’s none of my business what happens to those folks (whoever ‘those folks’ might be). As long as it doesn’t involve me, I’m not saying anything.”

When are we going to be like Howard Beale in Network – get mad as hell and do something about it?
